    | Would recommend.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course can be very easy to achieve if you are a motivated student. Professor Sprinkle provides power points, a copy of the notes, online work, and the text book as resource to help you be successful in the class.

    Course highlights:

A highlight of this course was that if you maintained a 90% average on all exams you are exempt from the final. Another great thing is the lovely bonus questions that can give you up 30 additional bonus points on every exam. In this class I learned that apoptosis is programmed cell death and that the only cells that don't undergo apoptosis are cancer cells.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

The best advice i can give for this course is to read the text book. This professor gives student an ample amount of resources, utilize them all. take notes in class because she goes over everything that will be on the exams. Talk to classmates and exchange contact information because its always helpful to have a study group before major exams. Come up with neat acronyms and share them with peers. Watch crash course videos on youtube to keep you thinking about biology. Do all out of class online assignments through mcgraw hill.

    | Would highly recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

Professor Van Stockum was my favorite teacher at JCTC. This was because he wasn't the typical teacher. We didn't have a textbook and we didn't take notes from a powerpoint. Instead, we would take notes from our discussions. We would discuss different topics, such as cell reproduction and what DNA is. Each week we would review what we had learned and build on it. There were no tests or exams, except for the one at the end of the semester. Even that was an open notes exam. He said that he didn't want to teach us things so that we could take a test, but he actually wanted us to learn things from his class.

    Course highlights:

I gained a lot of knowledge from this class, which would fill pages, but I will tell you a few things. First, I learned how to learn, if that makes sense. I think that if teachers would take his approach, students would learn more. I learned how to be thorough in taking notes and studying. I also learned random knowledge like how termites are able to consume wood and how horses are able to consume grass. The final exam took a few hours to complete, but if you studied your notes and payed attention, then it wasn't horrible.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I highly recommend you take this class. It was a very fun learning environment and he is an amazing teacher. However, if you take this class, be prepared to work. I had a three subject notebook and that class took up 90% of it. You will be taking a lot of notes and it may seem overwhelming, but if you review your notes throughout the week and apply yourself then you should be fine. As I said, he is an amazing teacher and he is more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

    | No strong feelings either way.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

We did not get to do very much hands-on activity. we would mainly just watch slide shows. I felt as if I didn't get to learn as much as I wanted.

    Course highlights:

I learned the different biomes of the world and what animals live there and how the survive with what they have.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be prepared for very little hands on activity and be ready to take down a lot of notes from slide shows very fast.
