    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I have learned more in this course than I thought I would. The professor really puts her students to work and shows them how difficult this field can be.

    Course highlights:

There was a day that our class went out on their own to interview students around campus about any topic they wanted. I learned how important it is to get peoples information and titles, because I forgot to do it and it was really frowned upon.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Be ready to write and edit a lot. You will get frustrated in the course, inside and outside of class, but if journalism is what you want to do, you need to take this class to learn what really happens.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

JOU 204 pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me into a real journalist. I learned how to write for a college newspaper and how to make soundbites for my college radio station.

    Course highlights:

Two of my articles I wrote for this class were published in my college newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You must be passionate about journalism to get through this class!

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

It was a fantastic course because Delano really wanted us all to succeed. He was always providing resources for us and helping us with real-world examples in class that really kept students engaged and interested while learning.

    Course highlights:

I learned how to write professionally in journalist style. Delano worked for a professional newspaper and he graded us as if we were working for him, which made the class tough, but in the best possible way. He taught us how to take criticism effectively to turn it into good writing. He taught us how to write everything from news stories to feature stories to crime reports.

    Hours per week:

    9-11 hours

    Advice for students:

To be successful, show up to class and take notes. Everything Delano says is really important to hold onto because though he's a professor, he's also in the journalism profession out in the real world currently as well, so he's up to date with his information regarding the profession.
