    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I recommend this course on two terms: 1) if you need the class in order to graduate, and 2) If you have a strong understanding of both Biology and Chemistry, as this class combines the hardest of both. Granted this class is Basic Biochem, it is still very challenging, by far the most challenging course I have ever taken.

    Course highlights:

It is full of facts and figures, you'll review the krebs cycle, pKa values, specifics about fatty acids and hormones, and no small amount of reading is involved. I learned a lot when i took this, but much of it has already faded.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

First of all, jsut like in any organic Chemistry class, DO NOT get behind. You will sign your own failure in this class if you allow yourself to slack off. if anything, do your best to get ahead and stay ahead, and you'll probably keep up just fine. If yo Take Dr. Volp at Murray state, beware. he's a nice enough guy, but he is very boring and his monotone makes it difficult to stay focused. he also jumps around a lot, and doesn't necessarily put enough emphasis on the right things (lecture vs test is inconsistent). Professors aside, really know your pKa and structures, those come up very regularly on tests, and know your stuff inside and out, there's a lot fo information and it can be overwhelming.
