Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I would highly recommend this course because speaking in front of others can be very important especially when it comes to your career. You may be asked to speak in front of others and like my professor always says that you should be confident in your answer and say, "Yes, I would be delighted!"

    Course highlights:

There are many highlights of this course as it is filled with knowledge. This class will help you gain skills on how to properly put together a speech and deliver the speech in a timely manner while maintaining your nerves.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

I would advice other students to attend this class every day that you are scheduled it. Dr. Wiesman, creates such a fun and enjoyable atmosphere. You may be nervous to speak in front of your peers, but always try to remember that everyone in the class is in the same position you are in.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

I think it is important for any student, especially CMST students, to learn how to properly write and execute public speaking.

    Course highlights:

The most helpful thing I have learned in this course how to deal with stage fright. When someone gets stage fright their heart races and their eyes dilate, making it hard to see small print. During this course, I have learned to write in a bigger font just in case it becomes hard to read my note cards and I have learned that the scariest part of a speech is the first 30-60 seconds.

    Hours per week:

    0-2 hours

    Advice for students:

My professor gave our class a great piece of advice when we started our first speech: Gave a speech that new and novel. Find something that you're interested in and have fun.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

I would recommend this course because it helps students learn about how to speak to their peers as well as conquer any fears of public speaking.

    Course highlights:

One highlight was the impromptu speech which taught me how to think on the spot and say things clearly. I have always had trouble saying what I want to clearly and this speech helped me to figure it woukd very quickly.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

Take your time to practice speeches and listen to the lectures and tips Skaggs gives you. Also study for the exams, they are not as easy as they seem.
