Often the concepts in psychology can seem abstract and obscure. But when you get to observe a rat exposed to alcohol attempt to walk across a balance beam, you truly understand the universal susceptibility of our brains and bodies to foreign substance. Highly illuminating class! I took the course several years ago so I don't believe I listed the correct name of the professor.
Each week you learn of a different class of drugs, and its impact, both physiologically and psychologically. These concepts are illustrated beautifully in the corresponding lab sections, where students dose rats with the drug of the week and measure its impact through an array of tests. The lab section was the perfect compliment to the lectures.

Advice for students:
Understand the physiological models, they are the least approachable pieces of information, but once you tackle the mechanisms by which drugs act on the body, the rest will come easily.
