Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

Professor Myers is great! Unlike the other teacher who teaches STAT 214, her lessons are all calculator based instead of writing out every single problem. She's not very lenient with her grading scale, but if you put the work in, she'll help you out in the end when it really matters!

    Course highlights:

The highlights of this STAT 214 course would have to be the teamwork. Professor Myers gave many group assignments in class randomly (so make sure you actually attend class), so we were forced to interact, but in the long run it was worth it because we all helped each other out and started a great study group!

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

You NEED to attend class!!! She takes attendance, and it messes with your grade if you skip a lot. Overall, she's a great teacher and you most definitely need the online code, the book not so much but it's all up to you as the student. Also, make friends in the class and socialize, especially with Professor Myers, trust me it'll help.

Not too easy. Not too difficult.

    Course Overview:

This course is very challenging , it keeps the brain working and thinking at a constant speed. The work is very tedious, one mistake and you have to start all over. It teaches you patiences and precision.

    Course highlights:

I learned a lot from this course. It was interesting because it was a new math. In highschool all we learn is geometry, algebra, and calculus , statistics is a different ball game. Statistics put data in a way I've never seen before. We learned how to do calculations by hand and use them in a calculator , I never knew what all the buttons on a TI-84 did until I got in college. Calculators are really smart and they truly are a life savor. One of the best highlights of this course to me , is when I would catch the professors mistakes. They are human and everyone makes mistakes, but it was just fun to me because the other students obviously were not paying attention and we build a relationship and I'd always rework the professors work and make sure I understood. Of course my professor was probably annoyed with me but it made me feel smart and that I was on top of my game.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

This is not a blow off class. Class will not be cancel, be prepared to learn !! Be prepared for a lot of homework. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Go to the professors office hours , email them , etc. Don't wait until the night before to study or you will fail because it really is a lot of information and formulas to learn. I like to use highlighters and post it notes. Highlight the formulas in your notes , section off each chapter with post it notes, so you won't be overwhelmed. Do the homework everyday when you learn new information so you won't forget it. Put in the work and you will be fine.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

In all, I'm currently indifferent about the course only because I got a B. I worked harder than I ever have for this class, having taken the first two tests and realizing that I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was. I knew the material; spending hours on the online practice material had me answering questions without struggle and test three didn't seem so daunting. But despite all the preparation and confidence, I didn't do well. Even worse was the fact that I've seen tests from other professors and I would have been able to ace any of those tests, no problem. Multiple choice seemed nice in the beginning and I have really learned the material, but his tests are impossible and you are not prepared for them from his lessons or practice questions. I would definitely recommend taking another professor.

    Course highlights:

The one highlight of this course is that I did learn basic statistics. Even if I didn't do well on the tests, Pal is good at teaching the material, just not preparing students for his tests. I learned more than I expected.

    Hours per week:

    12+ hours

    Advice for students:

Go to his office hours, if you can, and ask for questions like those off of the tests. Also, look for past tests and get the correct answers; study the questions he asks on them and prepare for similar questions on your upcoming tests.
