    | Would recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is one of the hardest courses you will ever take at Xavier if you take Dr. Dorris. He gives you knowledge you'd never find anywhere else, but grades like a bull dog.

    Course highlights:

I learned what really happened in slavery and how the world is ran.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!!! That's the only way you could possibly pass with a C.

    | Probably wouldn’t recommend.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This course is rather difficult. If you have a lot of free time and don’t mind reading, then you will excel in this class. However, if you have a fairly busy schedule, this is not the class for you.

    Course highlights:

I learned a ton about African American history that is not taught in elementary/high school history courses. I am very enlightened now and glad I took the course.

    Hours per week:

    6-8 hours

    Advice for students:

I advise you to set aside at least 6 hours to read over material and prep for quizzes and tests. This course requires a ton of reading and preparation for the exams.

    | No strong feelings either way.

    This class was tough.

    Course Overview:

This is not a course freshmen should take their first semester.

    Course highlights:

Although difficult, I learned the importance of reading and comprehending the required text for class. Through taking this class you will learn a lot of interesting facts about African Americans and their culture. Surprisingly, there is a lot of misconstrued information being taught that is greatly clarified in this course.

    Hours per week:

    3-5 hours

    Advice for students:

This is a required course but I do advise that this course be taken sophomore year and up.
