A leaders can become a change agent by embodying the changes that the organization seeks to implement. The role of a change agent is to seek ways of using their influence to affect the acceptance of others towards new policies.

  • Leaders can only become change agents when they are able to convince themselves to embrace change and defeat their desire to maintain status quo. Leaders are also susceptible to resisting any possible changes out of fear, lack of trust, or enjoyment of status quo.
  • The acceptance of change begins by having a deeper understanding of the purpose and impact of new policies and strategies. Change agents need to understand and embody these ideas to be able to influence others.

Sample Response

Leaders need to understand the purpose and intentions of the implemented policies to overcome their resistance towards change. Leaders act as change agents when they can manage their emotions and enable others to appreciate the values of promoted changes.
