REFLECTING MEANINGS
When talking to someone who is different from you in cultural background, age, gender, and/or experience, write what you could say to express your understanding of what you think the person means or intends to communicate. For example, you might say, "It seems like you are doing a lot of thinking about whether to continue in your current job. Is that right?" In another situation you might express, "I understand that it is really a challenge to juggle all the things you are doing." Using the movie character from the Apply and Demonstrate Practice Exercise 5 in Chapter 5, write 1 reflecting meaning comment that expresses your understanding of that person.
