What are some of the entrepreneurial traits found in the two Bissell brothers that help make them successful? Are there any skills or traits you think they could improve upon?

Explanation

The two brothers are the owners who came up with different business models in this fast-moving and fast-growing era of business segments. They may be considered to exhibit the following attributes of a good entrepreneur:

  • Internal locus of control: To move forward in their business, the entrepreneurs may have to make their own decisions. The brothers were highly focused and believed that they would achieve their set goals on their own irrespective of the external factors.
  • Self-assured: The two brothers have a very clear perception of their strengths and weakness. They trusted themselves and their skills and expertise to move forward in the right direction with a positive outlook.
  • Need of accomplishment: Rather than setting simple goals, they set up challenging objectives, and accomplishing them provides immense contentment. The need arose as one of the brothers had no job and the other was working for change.
  • High-powered: They were highly energized and put in a great effort. The desire to become a successful entrepreneur and to attain the target goal has made them work even on work holidays with intense power.

Evidence supporting the argument that an individual may find scope for improvement in the entrepreneurial traits of the brothers is as follows:

  • The brothers may focus on the characteristic entrepreneurial sacrifice because they need to remain strong if they face any negative situation in the future. It would help them to maintain positivity and overcome the issues and struggles that entrepreneurs face in their businesses.
  • The decisions are made by both the brothers but, at times, it may become difficult for both the brothers to be available at the time of decision making. So, it can be considered necessary to hold autonomy, which is an important entrepreneurial characteristic that helps in quick decision-making by providing freedom to make decisions and indulge in independent planning.

Evidence supporting the argument that an individual may not find scope for improvement in the entrepreneurial traits of the brothers is as follows:

  • The two brothers have achieved their success through a combination of all the above-mentioned attributes. So, it may be considered that no attributes need to be improved since they already have tasted success with the best blend of these qualities.
  • It may not be necessary to hold the characteristic entrepreneurial sacrifice because the brothers might have achieved the goals by focusing more on other traits.
