Rent for a Building was paid on June 30, 2011 for the next twelve months in the amount of $24,000.
So far, my teacher showed me that I have to do the following first:

(Step 1)

= $24,000 / 12 months
= $2,000

(Step 2)
June 30, 2011 is or represents the number 6 since it is the 6th month on the calendar.
06 07 08 09 10 11 12
Because it is the 30th of June, 2011 or June 30, 2011 so I must exclude the month of June and begin counting the month of July first.

As a result, July is 1, August is 2, September is 3, October is 4, November is 5, and December is 6. Finally, teacher instructed me to multiply 6 and $2,000 together in order to obtain $12,000. I am just not sure why I must perform

(Step 2).
