My answer: The product of the difference of m and n and the sum of m and n.

2.      Multiply: (2r+2) (2r-2)

3.      Factor the binomial or identify it as prime: 25r^2 + 9

My answer: Prime (I was unable to calculate anything successfully)

4.      Solve the equation: 2q(q+9)^2 (6q-5)=0

My answer: q = 0, 9, 5/6

5. Translate from English form to Algebraic form: The square of the difference of 2x plus y and 8.

My answer: (2x+y)^2 + 8.  The other answers are A. ((2x + y) - 8)^2 C. (2x + y)^2 + 82 and

D. 8^2 - (2x + y)

5.      Completely factor the expression, if possible: r^2 - 2r+1

6.      A bus driver follows a morning route and an afternoon route each day. Because there are more cities on the morning route, the average speed is 12 miles per hour less than the afternoon route. The driver covers 70 miles on the morning route in the same amount of time as she covers 100 miles on the afternoon route. Find her average speed on the afternoon route.

My answer: 40 miles per hour (I am pretty confident in this one. However, I would still like to make sure it is right)

7.      Find the product of (x-2y)^2

My answer: x^2 - 4xy + 4y^2

8.      Simplify the expression: (u-1)(u-4)(u-5)

9.      Determine whether the given function is a polynomial function. If it's a polynomial function, state the degree. If not, state the reason why: k(x) = -3x^6 - 0.7x + x^3

My answer: I want to say Yes; the degree is 6. I am not too confident on this one though, the other answers are:  No, because some range elements correspond to more than one domain element, Yes; the degree is 10 and No, because 0.7 isn't an integer.

10.  The height of a triangle is 2 cm more than the base. If the height is increased by 2 cm while the base remains the same, the new area becomes 82.5 cm^2. Find the base and the height of the original triangle.

My answer: I want to say that the base = 11 cm; height = 13 cm.

11.  Q varies inversely as the square of p, and Q = 36 when p = 7. Find Q when p = 6.

12.  Simplify the expression: (-2a^3 b^6 c^6)^3

13.  Divide the polynomials by using long division.

(14x^2 - 33x - 5) divided by (7x + 1)

For the most part, I just want to make sure that my answers are correct. I was allowed to use an algebraic calculator. I DID use this calculator for most of these questions! HOWEVER, I would like if the tutor could show (if the answers are correct, and if they're not) how the answer was achieved. I can't go using a calculator or easy solution for everything in life.
