  • C cannot become the correct answer because during replication both strands have to be replicated and and in the answer C it means only one strand will be replicated because you can see that on tha base a pair A-T is repeated in both strand . however , you realize that the upper strand of the damaged DNA has A so it should be base paired with T while the lower strand has C that should be base paired with G . The resulting daughter cells one will be normal since it has the original base pairing as the DNA that was not mutated while the second has a base pair that has changed from the original thus it is a mutant
