Do proteins in secondary structure naturally fold into tertiary structure or can it just stay in secondary structure? What makes it stay in this structure? The interactions between R groups should be spontaneous, then shouldnt all proteins be found in tertiary or Quaternary structure? Or is it secondary structure is just an intermediate process and eventually it will always form tertiary structure.

absence of interfering agents as; salt etc. In addition, tertiary structure might be favorable but,
not necessary...
