In-N-Out Burger Description
In-N-Out Burger is a well-known fast food chain restaurant that offers the finest all American cuisine of burgers, fries, milkshakes, and soft drinks. This restaurant's is driven by their strong belief of "doing things the old-fashion way" because it is the "freshest idea of all" (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Following their belief, In-N-Out Burger is committed to using high-quality ingredients that ensure their food is cooked to perfection (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In-N-Out Burger's mission to use the perfect ingredients starts with their famous hamburger, the meat they use for their one-of-a-kind hamburgers is strategically inspected by chefs to ensure that they are only serving premium ground patties that are free of "additives, fillers and preservatives" (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). This restaurant also pays close attention to how and where they receive their ingredients from by having it delivered daily and forbidding the use of microwaves, heat lamps, and freezers (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In addition to their heavenly burgers, they also are focused on choosing the "finest and freshest potatoes" that are shipped straight from the farm to their various locations to make their delightful French fries (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Since this restaurant is keen on producing genuine food, their milkshakes are not treated any differently and are made with real ice cream (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). The dedication this restaurant has on producing high quality, freshly served food every day sets them apart from other fast food chain restaurants.
History of In-N-Out Burger
In-N-Out Burger was first opened by Harry Snyder and his wife Esther Snyder in 1948 (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). The restaurant was located in Baldwin Park, California and was the first drive-thru restaurant available in the state (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Harry began the restaurants commitment to fresh food by shopping every morning before the restaurant opened to pick out all the fresh meats and produce ingredients (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In 1948, Harry incorporated a two way speaker system to his drive-thru which made it easier for customers to order food without leaving their car (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In-N-Out Burger made it to their tenth anniversary in 1958 and even opened five more restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, California (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Harry who was always paying attention to his customer's requests promoted the new "Double-Double" burger request around 1963 and even today that burger is a part of the official menu (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In-N-Out Burger made its twenty-five year anniversary in 1973 and expanded its restaurant to a total of thirteen different locations in California (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Unfortunately in 1976, the founder of this extraordinary restaurant passed away and left his company to his devoted sons Rich and Guy Snyder (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Since this restaurants main concern is creating fresh, high quality food an In-N-Out University was built in 1984 to provide proper training to aspiring employees to ensure they were well-educated on how to work at the restaurant (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). Finally on November 10th, 1994, the one hundredth location opened and California and Nevada were the only two states so far that had an In-N-Out Burger restaurant (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). The restaurant expanded to Arizona in 2000, and in 2013 had a total of 286 locations in five states on the West Coast (In-N-Out Burger, 2014). In-N-Out Burger has become a successful, well-known fast food chain restaurant that is leaving states across the country desperate to experience the high quality food they offer. Although all of the restaurants locations are predominately on the West Coast, in 2015, various locations are still being opened in different states proving that In-N-Out Burger could still potentially expand across the world (In-N-Out Burger, 2014).
Vison/ Mission Statement for Expansion to UK
In-N-Out Burger has had remarkable success throughout the West Coast and has proven its ability to begin expanding internationally. After researching international expansion options, the United Kingdom seemed to be the best fit. This country's population already enjoys fast-food restaurants that serve similar items like In-N-Out Burger such as Five Guys, McDonalds and even Burger King (The UK's Top Fast Food, 2017). Entering a market that already has famous fast-food restaurants that serve a similar cuisine may be alarming at first, but should be viewed as just another incentive for In-N-Out Burger to stay true to their commitment of serving the freshest ingredients to their customers and let their products speak for themselves. Once customers taste the high-quality product they are receiving it will enable them to surpass any competition. The mission for this expansion is to start by building one In-N-Out Burger in the heart of the United Kingdom which is London, England. This is the capital of the United Kingdom and is where In-N-Out Burger will make its first appearance that will determine if there will be more built across the country. The vision will essentially be following the history of how this restaurant first began expanding in Baldwin Park, California by testing the success of the first location and slowly beginning to open more locations if they are prosperous (In-N-Out Burger, 2014).
