Provide a memo where you deliver a tough message from the scenarios provided below.

In addition to writing a memo, you should include a one to two-page summary as an appendix to your project. Submissions on how to deliver tough messages. Be sure to include sources in your summary to help frame your discussion on delivering tough messages.

You are the CEO of a start-up technology firm making microprocessors. You have just hired a workforce of talented engineers from all over the country to begin manufacturing microchips for secret government applications. The company was built on conditional funding but now, 25% of this funding has been rescinded by the lender. Therefore, of the 20 people that were just hired, 5 need to be let go. All 20 people were asked to relocate to this area (due to security clearances) and none of the staff are residents of the local area. It is currently unknown which 5 people will be let go. Since all employees were hired at the same time, seniority or performance cannot be used to determine who will stay.

How will you determine who to let go? How can this be done fairly?

What about those who relocated here? Doesn't the company have any obligation to those people who the encouraged to move?

Why can we not find different ways to keep all 20 people? Maybe leadership can take a pay cut.
