You make an excellent point about being able to adjust your message while communicating. It is common during a face to face discussion to discover additional obstacles that may not have been known previously. Face to face communication provides an advantage by allowing the sender to respond to the obstacles in a timely manner. Using a written approach prior to meeting face to face may help with this discovery process. One strategy used in the business environment is emailing the other parties and asking for feedback on a topic. For example, a manager might email his or her team asking for feedback on a new work schedule. Based on the responses the manager receives, he or she can have responses prepared when meeting face to face.
