My assignment is to produce a 'Discussion of Findings' together with a 'Conclusions and Recommendations' as part of my business report.

Discussion of Findings must include:

  • Introductory Paragraph
  • Proper placement, format and introduction of Graphics
  • Appropriate inline citations

Three categories to be reviewed: 

  1. Format - please pay attention to headings, line spacing and fonts.
  2. Content - Content does not need to be extensive as you can see in the text example, but it does need to be logical. It should clearly explain the results organization. Your report does not need to assume or even discuss profitability of the project.
  3. Style - as always, good English is expected. Avoid reverting to unnecessary lengthy phrases. Use parallelism where appropriate. Paragraphs must be coherent. Proper inline citations must be provided.

BACKGROUND As part of Business Communication studies at Glendale Community College, we have been asked by our tutor, Professor Lorraine Bishop, to write a report on one of four business concepts offered to us. The class has been divided up into five groups, of which I am in group 2. My group has decided to open a Nutritional counselling and food preparation service. The business will be based in the city of Glendale with the intended purpose of serving it's community by offering delivery, collection and even having our own chefs cook in our clients homes. This background statement provides introductory information for readers to help them understand the nature of our business and it's intended purpose. Our primary goal is to improve the client's diet. Research carried out my the group concluded that time constraints and health-related issues were the main reasons our business would prosper in this particular city. The business will help to combat health issues which include specific diet-related diseases and to provide meals to accompany specific lifestyles such as sports and for those who simply can't cook or may not have enough allocated time in their busy daily lives for healthy food preparation. After viewing the research gathered by our group, it was evident that this particular community and it's residents are suitable candidates. The following aspects have been qualified from the groups research findings: economic viability, geographical location, business funding, meal plans, transportation of products to the client, suppliers and professional nutritionist services. Lastly, all of our groups research is based on secondary data sources since all of it was obtained online through many different independent websites which included various statistics on health and finance, information on nutrition and financial aspects of business, lists of various different tools/resources required for operating the business.

PROBLEM The research conducted by our group was designed to ask questions pertaining to our chosen business concept which we intend to open in the city of Glendale. Specifically, the research seeks answers to these questions: Which local suppliers can our business rely on to provide fresh, quality produce? What are the logistical factors we need to consider, e.g. delivery and/or collection of our ingredients, delivery of our freshly prepared meals to our clients, transporting our chef to and from the client's home? Can we rely on 3 rd party transportation or do we invest in our own? What can we expect to achieve from having our own nutritionist? Will it help us to provide a more professional level of service? Will this help to address our main purpose of this business which considers the health-related/diet problems as well as the specific nutritional needs of our clients? Can we find a suitable location for our business? Do we need to consider the population density and who 'qualifies' for our service including the type of culture(s) within the community? The research will exclude operational profits.
