Can you explain the effect that the presence of metal cations have on the color of a solution containing EBT . Also for EDTA. Both at pH10


We use Ca2+, Mg2+ Na+, K+, when those metals were in solution with EDTA the color was all colorless (test A), Later when testing again (test B) instead of EDTA we use EBT the color for Ca2+ and Mg2+ was red and the rest was blue. On the last test (test C) we added EDTA to the test tubes from test B, and the color didnot change. I am not sure the effects of EBT and EDTA has on the solution
