My instructor said it is 4 mol Hcl / 1 Mol Cl2

Can someone explain to my why you wouldn't balance it to become CH4 + 4Cl→ 2CCl4 + 4HCl and the conversion factor would be 1 mol Hcl / 1 mol Cl2
