Question-4: (a) Calculate and plot the distribution of active pressure on the wall surface

shown in Figure 2 using Rankine's Earth pressure theory.

(b) Take a soil element at depth of 6m from the surface of backfill, show principal stresses on

the stress element, and sketch Mohr's circle and failure envelop for it.
