2 Process States Start with the five-state model. Make up a state that is independent of the five states.
You cannot use the suspend state or any states from the SVR4 system. It should be your
own idea. This state could be something you believe a machine should have or a state that
applies to a specific situation. For instance, suppose your system allows process to be ran Operating Systems Concepts Page 1 on your gpu? What state or states are needed? Or, suppose spawning a new process is
actually multi-staged. In this case you may need states to represent each stage. After determining the independent state, break it into dependent state. An example of
this is instead of having a suspend state we have a Ready/ Suspend and a Block/ Suspend.
The first is independent of the other states, and the second two are dependent on the Ready
and Block states. Describe each state and their purpose. Explain why these states are needed (or desir- able) for the specific situation you chose. Describe each transition related to your states
(transitioning to or from).

Hints
. Choose a task for the system to be good at.
. Be specific when describing the task and how the computer will accomplish it.
- This is not needed for the assignment, but will help you flesh out what is needed
in the way of states.
. Consider transitioning from and to every state in the five state model.
. Don't forget the transitions from one of your states to another one. As an example,
Transitioning from Blocked /Suspend to Ready /Suspend
. As with all reflections, this is a mental exercise. A "what if" situation. If you need
to make assumptions do so.
