Hi there. I need help clearing something up with my computer science

homework. In the chapter I'm currently studying, we're learning about problem solving and algorithms. So far it's making sense, except I just want to make sure I have the correct idea on a problem. In my homework, one of the questions asks how many memory locations is required when sorting data and swapping two items. My initial thought was three memory locations are required, because the swap algorithm needs to have the indexes of the two items to be swapped. My question is was my thinking in the right direction?
