The travelling waves in a transmission lines can be used to detect

faults on the transmission lines. It is called Ultra High Speed (UHS) protection. Whenever there is a fault on a transmission line, travelling waves are generated from the point of fault which travel towards the relay. Applying the theory of travelling waves, find the distance to the fault from the relay if the time taken by the travelling waves to reach the relay is 3ms. Assume the speed of travelling waves to be equal to c where c is the velocity of light.
