Introduction  

 More employers and healthcare organizations promote their employees to get BSN, because of the evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing, which is taught in baccalaureate programs. The EBP in nursing improves the quality of the patient's care and outcomes. Also, it encourages a nurse's critical thinking, leadership, and effective communications. According to the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, "Evidence-based practice is the conscientious use of current best evidence in making decisions about patient care." The EBP is identifying the clinical problem, searching the literature, critically evaluating the research evidence, determining appropriate intervention, integrating research, a theory that is the highest level of safety for patients (McEwen, 2014). The research is a critically important process in the evidence-based practice. The nurse leader can create scientific and effective patient's care plan, and it produces the best outcomes. This paper will focus on specific healthcare delivery models, and compare and contrast public health programs.    

Reflection Assignment 3: Meeting Essential III   

In the nursing 561 class, I completed the project Community Strategic Plan which was a great opportunity to know about my local community. I was able to find out what was the community's resources, strengths, and differences. For public health, nurse should know about the community where she or he works and how to use the resources. Then the public nurses promote and educate their patients to use the resource. I was focused on the street drug problem in the project. I researched what age groups, sex, and kind of drugs are abused in the community. It was a good chance to thought about a strategic plan for teenagers who were in the risk in the community. After this project, I learn about my community's weakness and strength. I considered what we can do prevent our teenagers from the street drugs. That helped me when I had polysubstance abuse patients. I was able to discuss what was the side effects, what kind of resources out there. Effective clinician-patient communication, a clear understanding of patient literacy, and use of the Teach-Back Method are useful tools in helping patients to understand their own medical conditions better, educated patients are able to manage their medications, fully participate in their treatments, and follow protocols to achieve the goal of safe quality care (Tamura-Lis, 2013). The nurses are empowering the patient by trying to make good choices, understand what they should be doing for their treatment plan.   

I learn how to research in nursing and apply in the real world after NURS 350 Research in Nursing. The registered nurse uses guided research in the clinical setting to provide quality care that is the OBP that is proven and can be replicated. The EBP is like research-based practice in which it uses "best" evidence-based practice toward nursing intervention which is ground in research finding and scientific development (McEwen, 2014). I had to read several peer-reviewed research papers for the Critique of Research Article. I can apply EBP in my current nursing practice by researching the area I would like to know more about and the types of intervention that has proven to work. I would look up information from the library, and it has to be from a credible source. For example, A lot of the patients I work with getting off medication because they feel like they are all better and do not need it but once they get off the medication there are consequences. I want to show that continue follow-up with patients by the case manager will lead to continue compliance with medication and reduce the chances of coming back. According to Skeem & Louden (2006), specialty agencies are more effective than traditional agencies in linking these probationers with treatment services, improving their well-being, and reducing their risk of probation violation. These are some of the research articles I would use to implore the importance of medication compliance, and it is correlated with bad consequence when the patient is off their psych medication.    

I support the patient-centered care delivery model which treats individual differently identified by their values, belief, and cultures. After I took those two courses, the effective education is essential for public health nursing job. Also, the effective education from proper research and accurate statistics.   

Conclusion   

Public health nurse should provide the high quality of patient's care through Evidence-Based Practice. The EBP is like research-based practice in which it uses "best" evidence-based practice toward nursing intervention which is ground in research finding and scientific development (McEwen, 2014). EBP will be the key to the patient center care model which will enhance their long, high-quality life.
