A young American ambulance driver serving in the Italian army during World War I. In this novel, a situation is provided when Henry's lack of attention on war changes after it took a physical and mental toll on him. When Fredric Henry was faced with the loss of a fellow friend, I related to Henry's counteraction of loss and perspective change.
