Essay 6.1
Your Life After Ten Years
1
Think about what your life might be like after you have met some of your long-term academic and
professional goals. Will you be working on a graduate degree? Will you be working in your future desired
profession? What other goals will you have met? Use the compare/contrast pattern of development to
discuss how your life now is different than it will be in 10 years.
Include the following:
What education, training, and certifications will you have completed between now and 10 years
from now? What might you be working toward achieving? How will this impact your professional
goals?
How is a position in your ideal profession different from your current job? For instance, will your
ideal profession require you to work longer hours? Will you have greater financial stability? Will
there be benefits such as retirement, health, and so on? How will this affect your life?
What opportunities will you have that are different than you have now?
How do you expect your personal life to be different? Why?
What other specific goals have you set for yourself to reach in 10 years? How would meeting these
goals impact your life?
