Need to create an outline on the short story “A&P” by John Updike. Later I will have to do a compare contrast essay but now I just need to work on an outline. I have attached an example that I created labeled week 2 outline.
Trust as a Theme in Toni Cade Bambara’s “Gorilla, My Love”
Introductory Paragraph:
In Toni Cade Bambara’s “Gorilla, My Love” the story introduces Hazel Vale, a
young girl who feels adults never tell the truth. The story begins when Hazel Fnds out that her Uncle
Hunca Bubba is ge±ng married and is changing his name back to his original given name, Je²erson
Winston Vale. When Uncle Hunca Bubba begins talking about his new love, Hazel’s heart breaks because
she realizes the vow of him promising to marry her was just a lie and the picture he’s holding up of his
wife to be has Hazel reminiscing on a series of events that
conFrm, adults can never be trusted.
Thesis statement: In the story
Gorilla, My Love,
Hazel’s interpreta³on of trust is transformed by life
altering experiences she’s dealt with in her life.
