Explain why the temperature decreases as altitude increases in the troposphere ( at the normal lapse rate).
I've already stated that as height increases air temperature drops uniformly because the troposphere is mainly heated by the earth's surface. Which is why it gets colder with an increase in altitude, but my professor keeps marking my answer wrong. Am I wrong or missing something? I know the normal lapse rate is 6.5 degrees C per 1000m (or 1km).
