In the book Luoma states: "In their desire to combat terrorism in a modern political context, nation
often face conflicting goals and courses of action: 1) providing security from terrorist acts, i.e., limit
the freedom of individual terrorist, terrorist groups, and support networks to operate unimpeded i
relatively unregulated environment versus 2) maximizing individual freedoms, democracy, and hun
rights."I agree with Luome because what I believe Luome is saying is that America cannot adequate
fight terrorism because of "red tape." America has placed itself as the symbol of freedom to the we
therefore, what America does has to emulate resilient freedom throughout all other countries and
cannot be shown as a hypocrite. America can completely wipe out terrorist cells in a short amount
time with the entire military might, but by doing so, it would result in innocent casualties. America
not want to allow terrorism to go about freely, however, America by principal cannot fight terrorism
without holding ourselves accountable to the very message we are trying to promote. America can
promote freedom, democracy and human rights if it then decides to blatantly disregard the proted
innocence and completely annihilate a country without prejudice. Trying to establish democracies
promote education and voting in these war-torn countries is what separates America, from a tyran
America cannot simply control the entire population because not everyone is a terrorist, only an
extremely small percentage. America has to do its best at impeding the actions of terrorist we do k
and train/educate others to show them there is another way to life.
