PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE The objective/purpose for the staffing plan developed is to provide a systematic process to guarantee that Tanglewood Stores have the right number of people with the necessary skills to fill the needs of the business. Taking internal and external changes into account we will integrate HR planning with the company’s business plan as outlined. Project Roles and Responsibilities – summarize the responsibilities for each role required to conduct the project work Forecasting Availabilities – identify estimated staffing requirements and potential gaps Staffing Activities – identify estimated staffing requirements and methods used for recruiting and selection strategies. Retention Management – identify strategies that help Tanglewood retain employment Organizational Chart – display reporting relationships PROJECT ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Identifying key roles and the responsibilities of the roles throughout the company can ultimately define the success of Tanglewood. Having job descriptions that clearly identify the knowledge, skills, attitudes and other characteristics and rating the importance of each will help the hiring process go in the correct direction. It is important to understand each position within the company and what role they play in the success of Tanglewood. Below I have summarized the key aspects of each position. A table is provided in appendix. Store Manager The Store Manager manages the entirety of the store. Their overall goal is to increase sales and ensure efficiency, organize promotions, displays and events. They are responsible for ensuring quality, customer service, and health and safety standards are met storewide. Managers are to determine appropriate policies and procedures for inventory, purchasing, and personnel management that will apply storewide. They also identify training programs and materials to guarantee all employees are provided adequate training. Assistant Store Manager The Assistant Store Manager manages an area of the store (hardline, softlines, or operations) of the store to increase sales and ensure efficiency. They too help determine appropriate policies and procedures for inventory, purchasing, and personnel management in consultation with the store manager that will apply to their particular area of the store. Department Manager The Department Manager is to manage the department to increase sales and ensure efficiency. They coordinate department activities with the store’s policies, in consultation with the assistant store manager. Other specific tasks include directing employees in Page 2 of 15
