You’ll write a 3-4 page critical examination of any Harvard Business Review or Sloan Management Review article published from 2014 to the present. You should have a central thesis noting your point of disagreement with the author, and three supporting sub-points. Papers should bring in ideas from class and outside sources to summarize multiple perspectives on an issue and reach a well thought-out conclusion.

IBM 301 Spring 2016 Paper Grading Guidelines Remember, the assignment is to present a 3-4 page criTque of any Harvard Business Review of MI± Sloan Management review published since 2014. Points will be assigned as follows: 4 points - Your use the following organizaTon for your essay: Paragraph 1 – You introduce the main idea of the arTcle and your main point of disagreement. BrieFy introduce your three main sub-points. Paragraph 2 – Explain the idea of the arTcle in a bit more detail (but sTll be brief, remember the point of the assignment is to criTque the arTcle, not to summarize. So you need to write just enough so that your reader gets the gist of what the arTcle is about). Paragraphs 3,4, and 5 – Your three supporTng sub-points. Make sure each the gist of each sub-point is clearly stated in the ²rst sentence of each of these paragraphs. Paragraph 6 – BrieFy present some alternaTve viewpoint- even though you’re criTquing the arTcle, does it sTll hold some value? Paragraph 7 – Concluding paragraph. Reiterate your main point and why you think it’s important. 6 points –Your three supporTng sub-points all make sense, are well-sourced, and logically build to your main point. I can clearly tell what your sub-points are and how they relate to one another. 4 points - WriTng is concise, clear, and free of Fu³ (see the “How to Organize Any Essay” guide secTon on common sources of Fu³). 4 points – CitaTons are used where appropriate(see h´ps://www.princeton.edu/pr/pub/integrity/pages/cite/ as a rough guide, ask me if you’re unsure). Use MLA or APA format. ±his is especially important when explaining the logic behind your thesis. 2 points - Reference secTon is properly forma´ed, and I can easily look up your sources if I tried (should be easy points to get).Again, use MLA or APA format. ±he reference page does not count towards the page limit. NOTE: I will also deduct points for improper formaµng (e.g. using di³erent fonts, inconsistent margins or spacing, etc.).
