Background : A Case of Food Poisoning
I wenty - two persons attended a brunch on Sunday , May 22, 1988 ( 1 1 a. m . to 3 p. m. ) in Livonia,
New York . All fresh food items were delivered to the cooking area the morning of May 22 . The
menu consisted of scrambled eggs , bacon , fruit salad , and pastries .
Scrambled eggs consisted of Grade A eggs from a Maryland farm . They were beaten , mixed with
milk , salt , pepper , and diced onions . The eggs were scrambled in small batches and served from
warming trays heated by alcohol burners that kept going out .
Bacon was purchased from a meat wholesaler . The bacon was fried on a large griddle and served
from warming trays .
Fruit salad was made from fresh apples , bananas , and oranges . They were cut up and mixed with
commercially canned peaches and pears .
Muffins and other pastries were purchased from a bakery and served with butter .
Using the data in the table below , answer the following questions :"
