I never really realized how fortunate I am to have food provided for me at my fingertips any time I want. I often
take advantage of this, and just eat food from my pantry/fridge whenever I feel hungry. However, after watching this video It had made me think about eating food on a whole different level. Like the video stated, 1 in 5 children suffer from world hunger every day. Often times when I don't like a food too much at a restaurant or if I don't eat all of my meal, I just throw it away and don't think anything of it. Now I will think twice before doing so. To help this problem, I will take my food that I did not eat for leftovers. To help childhood hunger, I can donate extra food to local schools and donate money to supporting organizations.
It is known that the number of hungry people is increasing. From a study in 2017 the number of food-insecure people is at 815 million. It is known that food insecurities result from factors that include poor health or poverty. Households with incomes below 185 percent of the poverty threshold was at greater risk for food insecurity with a 34.8%. Health problems also contribute to food insecurity. Such as chronic illness, disability, and mental illness.
