reactions - between the functional groups of a sphingosine molecule (structure below, on left) with phosphoric acid,
ethanolamine (structures below, on right), and a long carbon chain "fatty" carboxylic acid. The order of attachment is
indicated below.
Complete the condensation reactions, and draw the finished structure of the phospholipid.
Be sure to:
a) Identify the functional groups of EACH reactant and EACH linkage, and
b) Show any remaining acid or amine functional groups as they would be at physiological pl: ionized.
