It should be approximately 1200 words long, the book is

Ethical Choices - 180 Day Option9780190464561.

For the essay, first select any one case in Chapters 1, 2, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12, or 13. There are many cases to choose from, and they are clearly identified in each chapter. You may also choose a case that we covered in the PA assignments.

The case you choose becomes your topic for the essay. In your essay, the first part - about the first third of your essay - should be devoted to your summarizing the facts of the case, as primarily described in the text itself. The second part is where you unfold and describe what is most ethically important about the case. What ethical issues are at stake? What are the ethical topics, definitions, and issues that are most relevant to the case? In this middle part of the essay, you are trying to expose and describe what is ethically most problematic about the case, and you should be able to discuss this using some of the theories and concepts we have developed over the course of the semester. Within the rather limited space you have to work with, you cannot possibly describe how every aspect of ethical theory we have so far studied applies to your case - and you should not try to do so! Again, the idea is for you to focus on what is most relevant in your case. In the third part of your essay, you should state the most important ethical decision(s) you would make if you were to respond to the case, and also explain why! You need to give reasons for your decision. To put the same point in other terms: what is do you think is the right action to take with respect to the case, and why?

As you develop your essay in terms of these three parts, please make sure you make the appropriate transitions between these three parts of the essay, in order to make your essay as seamless as possible.

Citations/referencing: Research which extends beyond course content is not required for this essay. As you write your essay, I would strongly suggest that you keep your references under control by limiting yourself to the readings we have covered in this course. Always be careful about reaching out to other primary and secondary sources that we have not used in the course, because to do this in a way that improves the quality and final grade of your essay is harder than it looks, especially as this is an introductory course.

In any case, if you do make citations or references, then please do so according to either the APA style or the MLA style.
