(A) The diagram shows a vertical spring with a 2-lcg box resting on top, which causes it to
compress a distance :1! (40.0m} fi'om its equilibrium position. Then the spring is released,
it will expand (decompress) back to its equilibrium height sending the box into the air a
certain distance (H) from the original compressed location. If the spring has a constant of
k = 500 mm, what is the maximum height above its initial position that the box will reach?
(You can assume the spring is massless and that it returns to its equilibrium length after the
launch).
Hint: It is also safe to assume that the height of the box at the pre-launch
stage is the lowest possible height the box could reach in the system.
