Hi, I have a certain question about significant digits. I am solving this problem:


Two equally

charged small spheres repel each other with a force of 36 N, when they are 12.0 cm apart.

a) What is the charge on each sphere?

b) Find the magnitude of the electric force on each sphere if the charges are doubled.

c) Find the magnitude of the electric force on each sphere if the distance between the spheres is doubled.


for a), the answer is 7.6 x 106 C (2 significant digits) Which I understand

for b), the answer is 144 N. I calculated and got 143.982, but would you round it to 140 based off 2 significant digits in the problem?


If you could help me understand, that would be great.
