You may roll the tennis ball horizontally off a table. Videotape the projectile motion using a smartphone or a webcam. Then use Logger Pro to analyze the video and produce position, velocity and acceleration plots for both the horizontal and vertical motion. Fit the graphs to identify the initial conditions and g with respective uncertainties.

1.    What are the shapes of the vertical position, velocity and acceleration graphs? Are they consistent with your understanding of projectile motion?

2.    What are the experimental values of g and the uncertainty for each of the relevant graphs? Do you expect them to be greater or smaller than the accepted (theoretical) value of g? Are the experimental g's consistent with the theoretical g?

3.    What are the shapes of the horizontal motion graphs? What do they suggest about the horizontal motion of a projectile? Are they consistent with your understanding of projectile motion?
