What is the answer to this question?
I went to a walk in a park at night time. There was moonlight. However,
I noticed things were disappearing! Trees that I could see in my peripheral were gone when i looked at them directly and it was just black in the centre of my vision. Why did this happen? I had a eye test recently and my vision is fine so it isn't that.
And the answer to this?
I'm an operator and i have to monitor a large screen that shows important diagnostic information from various pieces of equipment. Sometimes I'm not able to understand an important message when I'm looking at the other side of the screen, I can see that there is a message there but I can't understand what it shows unless I look close and directly at it. Can you explain why this happens? It is really annoying, because I have to keep moving my gaze all around the screen to make sure I don't miss anything important. Do you have any suggestions for how I might reduce the problem?
Why do me and my friend see different colours of the dress?
I sent my friend a picture of a pair of shoes I'm thinking of buying. My friend replied that they didn't like the colour—"too blue", they said. But no part of the shoes are blue! I was annoyed because it seemed to me that my friend must not have even looked at the picture and was just assuming what colour they would be (blue is my favourite colour)—but my friend insists that they did look at the picture and that the shoes appear blue to them. How is it possible that we disagree on the shoe colour? I know that my friend has normal colour vision, because they had to be tested for their work. If I buy the shoes, will different people be seeing them as different colours as I'm walking around?
