Below are summary data from a multilevel, single-factor experiment

examining the effects of a new experimental drug on night terrors. Participants were randomly assigned to one of four dose groups (0, 3, 9, 18 mg) and were administered the drug for seven consecutive days. The participants were asked to track the number of night terrors they had for the next month. The data are presented below. You should be able to:


1) Complete the data table and calculate the mean, ∑X, and ∑X2.


2) Use the values from (1) and calculate the F-ratio. Then, determine Fcritical

and indicate whether you can reject H0. You must show all of your work

(please attach a separate sheet).


3) Briefly describe what the outcome of the ANOVA indicates about the tendency of the new drug to cause night terrors.
