BSAT 382 Project: Forecasting Problem description: Arrow Air is a regional East Coast airline. It has kept data for the percentage of available seats occupied on its flights for four quarters during the last 5 years. Year Quarter % Seat Occupancy 2008 1 63 2 75 3 86 4 58 2009 1 59 2 62 3 81 4 76 2010 1 65 2 70 3 87 4 69 2011 1 59 2 61 3 83 4 71 2012 1 60 2 66 3 86 4 74 You are asked to conduct a data analysis on this set of data and provide a letter of recommendation to your boss in terms of the pricing policy and flight schedule to be implemented in year 2013. You should use the forecasting tools you learn in class to conduct an appropriate analysis in order to answer the following questions. (1) Does the % seat occupancy data contain seasonal variations? (2) What are the values of quarterly seasonal indexes? (3) What are your forecasted % quarterly seat occupancy rates for 2013? Please turn in your work by February 25, 2013 at the beginning of your class.
