In this unit, you will work with your group to identify data requirements for an organization.

To prepare for this assignment, review the group project scenario.

By Day 4

individually complete the following tasks:

  • Identify and post to the group discussion forum at least six candidate entity types. You can do this by considering different people, places, things, and events. Eliminate those where only one instance will exist (for example, the EFO organization). Also eliminate ones that describe or are part of another entity (for example, the ID number). You may find it convenient to group or split some of the remaining candidate entity types. Justify your decsions.
  • Create and identify a list of at least 10 functional requirements for the system. Most functional requirements can be found within the information and reporting requirements of the project scenario. Link each functional requirement to one of the entity types you identified. For example, The DBMS must ensure that each vehicle has a unique ID, accounts payable must include the supplier ID, Item ID, initial cost, and amount owed OR the payroll report must include the employee ID, employee name, hours-worked, and hourly-payrate, etc.

By Day 6

as a group, complete the following tasks and post your comments regarding each item:

  • Review and discuss your group member's entity lists and requirements.
  • Based on the discussion, agree on a candidate entity list and functional requirements that comprehensively represents the organization's data.
