Persuasion is something to focus on with the recent presidential election. Last year was a particularly heavy fight from both candidates and it seemed like year after year the political parties spend more time and resources on promoting their candidates than ever before. Let's look at how that money is spent.
Political commercials are running rampant. Whether it be local candidates trying to get their names out or the host of commercials coming from the national level, these commercials are meant to sway the minds of voters. Which of the commercials are written most effectively? Are the ones you remember the ones that seem to be grounded in logic and promoting your candidate, or are the ones that stand out those that seem to condemn the other candidate's ideals? How could the candidates improve their persuasive messages for future elections?
NOTE: I do not wish to turn this into a political debate so I do not need/want to know which party you side with; however, I do want to consider the very deep resource we have to examine (the political persuasive messages).

I think that the political campaigns that I remember the most are the ones when a candidate is saying something about the other person. Like he does not support gay rights, he believes that the upper class should not have to pay taxes, or he believes that welfare should require drug testing. I think the reason I remember these more is because I think to myself, "What do you believe?" These ads make me doubt the ability of the person running the ad because instead of telling who they are and what they believe they are sounding off about another candidate. I think that by creating commercials showing what they believe with proof it could persuade me to vote the other way.
