My name is Michael I am an international business student with the language of emphasis in Portuguese. During my adolescent age I grew up with my mother until I was 12 years old and later I learned how to be perseverant and patient with my goals. After being limited in my opportunities and options my motivation arises in business field when I started selling skateboard products and accessories. After living for some years near by the border between Mexico and the United States where Spanish and English are spoken, I had the opportunity to define that I would study business with an emphasis on the Portuguese language. After attending City College, I transferred to this excellent San Diego State University and to continue my business degree. Through my interest in extreme sports and attending skateboarding competitions in San Diego I could lean on a skateboard project and thus get interested in the M.B.A. program in Latin America. My interest in choosing my emphasis on the Portuguese language expanded my motivation and goal to one day can work for some extreme sports company in Latin America. As one of the participants in the distinguished program of M.B.A. here at the prestigious SDSU university, my creativity and strong communication skills in different languages, the ability to understand different cultures and the entrepreneurial leadership skills for projects make me the possible prospect for this unique and interesting business program in Latin America.
My ability to communicate in Spanish and English helped me form my skateboard brand project. Where I had the opportunity to design drawings for skateboards and generate marketing and advertising ideas. The project also takes time to make relationships with skateboard shops and to find the right wood suppliers. In addition, being able to acquire knowledge in Portuguese culture classes here at SDSU helped me to expand my perspective on other cultures of Latin America and for that reason this program adapts to my needs and interests for my educational career. My area of interest is to learn management techniques in import and export. Like the procedures and the understanding of documentation. I see myself contributing my professionalism to other companies and to my personal business projects. Moreover, I can offer my communication skill in different languages such as Portuguese, Spanish and English. That is why I am interest so much in Latin American countries and where my experience in SDSU improves my language in Portuguese by taking interesting classes from writing to Portuguese literature. The excellent educational quality of SDSU likewise helped me to expand my knowledge in areas such as Latin American classes since my origin in Spanish motivated me to learn a more about History courses such as pre-colonial 415 and modern times 416. These steps pushed me to understand some differences of cultures and assimilate the economic conditions of some countries like Brazil and Portugal.
Over time, my interest in business increased in extreme sports area such as skateboarding decks and accessories products. For example, one of my core classes the business integrated strategies 405 helped me to have a better vision and more solid goals for a skateboard project. My vision is to be able to offer some product for the needs of the community with sustainable materials and reduce excess pollution when drilling Canadian wood trees for skateboards. This increases my motivation and preparation to achieve a better education in business and possible specialization with an MBA postgraduate, and once I studied at the SDSU where I founded part of my knowledge in areas of administration, economics, accounting and business strategies.
Then, in 2014, a skateboard brand project emerged. This led me to act to investigate and find the tools and information necessary to follow my goal of organizing and better planning my decisions and ideas. So, the undergraduate classes have helped me improve ideas and continue with my goal. One of them is to graduate from the International Business program and have the possible opportunity to join the MBA program in Latin America. Since my goal is to be able to work in a company where I can continue learning and practicing business methods in areas such as leadership, supply chain management, production, operational management, marketing, and administration. With this opportunity in the M.B.A. program in Latin America at SDSU one day I will be able to adapt the knowledge acquired to my skateboarding project company and to develop and carry out more effective and efficient decisions in the future. The communication was a source to experience the entrepreneurial project of manufacturing skateboards in Mexico and to import and export the products due to the opportunity offered by the free trade agreement NAFTA since 1994 between countries such as Canada, Mexico and the United States.
No doubt, following my passion for extreme sports has pushed me to excel and motivate me to thrive and offer a more productive life in my community. Also know the importance of contributing socially and with responsibility to our society. I plan to continue forming my educational goals and values in the M.B.A. And I will also be grateful to my professors for transferring that valuable knowledge and people who supported me so far in my career. It is for these reasons that I chose the program of M.B.A. because the unique knowledge program and the flexible schedule for those working students like me. The remarkable selection of rich subjects in the business area such as advanced global marketing methods, strategies, international finance seminars, statistics analysis and some others to name a few. Thank you all, for having me participate in this excellent opportunity program.
