I need help writing this essay for ENGLISH Literature. For book "Ties that bind, ties that break"

Multiculturalism Project

For this assignment, read a novel or play written by a non-American author. Afterwords, research the culture in which the novel takes place (time and location) and compare/contrast it with the way that it is depicted in the novel.

It must be 6-8 full pages, word processed, and follow MLA guidelines. You are required to use at least 5 secondary sources (this means that they exclude the novel or play that you used), and you must document your work accurately.

Develop a thesis based around your observations. Speculate about why these differences and/or similarities occur and what the author had in mind to make them that way. For instance: in The Three Musketeers, Alexander Dumas  may have had a reason behind making others react to the musketeers the way that he did, or the way that they are depicted. In  The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hugo takes a great deal of time to describe buildings, locations, and events in Paris: do they differ from the way they actually appeared in the time period in which the novel is set? If so, why would he invent these things, or why was it so important that he adhere to historical accuracy for his story?
